FAIRFAX DISTRICT (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide in the Miracle Mile area involving a rapper and his wife, a star on VH1.
Officers received a call around 7:30 a.m. from a neighbor stating they heard gunfire and a woman screaming in the La Palazzo apartment complex in the 300 block of Hauser Boulevard, the LAPD said.
The initial investigation revealed that Earl Warren Hayes, 34, fatally shot his wife, Stephanie Elyse Moseley, 30, and then took his own life, according to a LAPD spokesperson.
“The initial radio call was about 10 shots, and when the officers were inside the apartment, they heard one to two more shots,” Capt. Howard Leslie said. “When SWAT showed up on scene, there were no more shots.”
Officers entered an apartment unit and located the bodies of a man and a woman in the bedroom. A gun was also discovered at the scene.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced both Hayes and Moseley dead at the scene, police said.
Moseley was on the show “Hit the Floor” on VH1. Hayes, a rapper, was signed with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s The Money Team. A source tells KCAL9’s Brittney Hopper Mayweather and Hayes were close friends, and the athlete may have been on the phone with Hayes during the apparent murder-suicide.
Friends say the couple was dealing with infidelity issues.
“Like I said everyone has their problems, but if you’re asking if anyone knew that something would come to this – hell no,” said Moseley’s friend, model Eva Marcille Pigford. “Stephanie was a beautiful person and she’s going to be extremely missed.”
